New to Twitter? Get set up.

If this is the first time you’re using Twitter, here a few tips to help you get started:

    1. Personalize your profile. Click on your profile name in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Select “Settings” from the drop down menu.
    2. Click on “Profile” and update your location, blog/homepage URL, and your bio.
    3. To ensure you’re receiving any tweets directed to you, you may want to update your mobile settings.  Go to “Mobile” add your mobile number, and select the types of tweets you want to receive (replies, direct messages, etc.). A text will be sent to you to confirm that the mobile number is yours. Follow the instructions in the text to complete the set up.  Once you’ve successfully added your mobile number, you’ll begin receiving tweets via text.
    4. Since we’re on the topic of mobile, there are several applications that will allow you to directly access Twitter via your iPhone, Blackberry or Android-enabled device.  For iPhone users, Twitter for iPhone automatically pushes replies and direct messages so you can see them without opening the application. You can download Twitter for iPhone, iPad and Touch here.  Download the  Blackberry users, download Twitter for Blackberry.  If you have a Droid, download the app on Android Market.

That’s it for now. If you have any questions getting set up, email me or leave a comment.
